A portion of the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., has the look of a tropical paradise these days. A major exhibition of works by 19th century post-Impressionist Paul Gauguin includes oil paintings and other objects he created on the South Seas island of Tahiti. But the real Tahiti bore little resemblance to the one Gauguin depicted on his canvases. In the 1870s, Gauguin, married with five children, was working as a stockbroker in Paris.

A new trend has emerged that has moms-to-be flocking to nail salons with their ultrasound photos in hand, requesting a manicure crafted to look just like their little ones’ first snapshots. Most of the impressive photos floating around social media seem to be of women who had their nails decorated for gender-reveal parties, baby showers and similar events. One Swedish Instagram user (who happens to be a hairdresser and nail artist herself) with twins on the way even shared a snapshot of a nail set that showed two sonogram images to represent both of her babies.

Dwayne Johnson is known for displaying complete honesty and enthusiasm whenever he announces a new project he’ll be working on. The Hollywood megastar carried the same charm and vibe when he announced the live-action remake of Disney’s celebrated movie, Moana. I tried store-bought pancake syrup from 6 brands to see which provided the best taste and value. I found the Target brand to be bland, and I didn't like how sweet the Kroger-brand syrup was. Pearl Milling Company and Log Cabin ended up being my favorites of the bunch.  I've never been picky about pancake syrup, but there are certainly plenty to choose from at the store.
